They were amazingly lost again in the aftermath of World War II, and recovered in the secret vaults of a Russian museum, to once again evoke the glory of one of the world's most storied civilizations. -- The Trojan city: For centuries "The Illiad" was considered to be more fiction than fact. In 1873, controversial archeologist Heinrich Schliemann, using clues from Homer's epic poem, discovered the remains of a city he believed to be Troy. But it wasn't until the 1990's that conclusive evidence confirmed his findings and gave new credence to Homer's account of the war.
