The television series is a spinoff from the popular Breaking Bad television show. The series takes place six years before the events of Breaking Bad and features small-time lawyer Jimmy McGill. The series follows the exploits of Jimmy and the circumstances that lead to his metamorphosis into criminal-minded lawyer Saul Goodman.

Approved to begin practicing law again, Jimmy McGill decides to operate under the name "Saul Goodman", using methods and representing clients that gives Kim Wexler some pause and puts Jimmy in some uniquely dangerous situations. Gustavo continues his war against the cartel by way of Lalo Salamanca, putting Nacho in the crosshairs, and leaving Mike at rock bottom.
